Great gifts at a great price!

It was so great to see everyone in one room again, I hope you really enjoyed making the gifts. Kay shared some great Advent books with us,

Per popular demand I have listed the Bean Soup and Cookie jar instructions below!

Bean Soup
¼ c dry black beans
¼ c red kidney beans
¼ c split peas
¼ c pinto beans
¼ c small red beans
¼ c black-eyed peas

¼ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
1 tsp parsley
½ tsp paprika
1 TBSP chili powder
1 TBSP minced onion
½ tsp oregano
½ tsp garlic powder

3 hours before serving, rinse beans with cold, running water. Remove stones or shriveled beans.
In a Dutch oven or stock pot, bring beans and 9 cups water to boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour. Drain into pot.
Heat to boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 1 ½ hours until beans are tender. Stir occasionally.
Add 1-16 oz. can stewed tomatoes with liquid (break up tomatoes). Heat to boiling.
Reduce to low and cook 15 minutes more.
Makes 6 to 8 generous servings.




Cranberry Hootycreeks
5/8 c all purpose flour
1/2 c rolled oats
1/2 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c paked brown sugar
1/3 c white sugar
1/2 c dried cranberries
1/2 white chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped pecans (optional)

Layer the ingredients in a a 1 quart or 1 liter jar, in the order listed.
Attach a tag with the following instructions:

1. preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a cookie sheet or line with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, beat together 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until fluffy. Add the entire jar of ingredients, and mix together by hand until well blended. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
3. Bake for 8to 10 minutes or until edges start to brown. Cool on baking sheets, or remove to cool on wire racks. Makes 18 cookies.
